How it works

What it does on a call, what you see afterwards, and what is still planned.

On the call

  • Says it’s an AIEvery greeting names your business and says it’s an AI.
  • Answers from your factsYour services, hours, prices and area, as you approved them.
  • Takes the detailsName, what they need, and whether this number is the best one to call back.
For a visit, it checks the ZIP code against your service area and takes the street address.
  • Books with consentOpen times come from your Google Calendar; it books only after the caller agrees.
  • Takes a messageWhen a caller needs you, it flags the call for follow-up.
  • Transfers to your phoneIt rings a phone you verified and tells you who’s calling.
On the Team plan it rings up to three people in turn. Press 1 to take the call.
  • Knows when you’re closedChoose which calls come to it; it tells callers when you open again.
  • Cancel or move by phoneIf you turn it on, a caller can change a booking it made.
It reads the change back and makes it only after the caller agrees.
  • Ends sales callsA pitch from your list of sales phrases, or a recording, ends politely.
You see Spam, ended in Inbox, with no notification, and Not spam undoes it.
  • Calls in EnglishCalls are handled in English.
A Spanish speaker hears one sentence in Spanish saying so, and you get their number. Conversations in Spanish are planned.
  1. Receptionist

Hi, you’ve reached Riverbend Plumbing. I’m the AI receptionist. No menus, no beep, just tell me what’s going on.

  2. Caller

Hi. A pipe under my kitchen sink burst. I shut the water off, but there’s a lot of water on the floor. Can someone come?

  3. Receptionist

I can help you book a visit for that. I can offer Monday, October 12 at 7:30 AM or at 11:00 AM. Which works better?

After the call

  • A record for every callThe transcript, the caller’s details, the outcome and your notes.
  • Only confirmed bookingsIt never reports a booking your calendar hasn’t confirmed.
  • Notes and doneAdd a note, text the caller back, and mark it done.
  • A short summary of each callWhat the caller needed, and the next step.
  • Text after a bookingPlannedOne text with the booking details, unless the caller declines.
It starts once the carrier approves your number.
  • What it couldn’t answerHome lists those of the last 7 days, with Teach beside each.
  • Asked for youOne alert right away if nobody picks up the transfer, on Android, the web and email.
  • Still needs youOne reminder if nobody opens a call within two business hours.
  • Find a callSearch, filter by booked, message, missed or turned away, and call back.
  • Owner app on your phone and the webCalls, records and settings in your web browser, on a computer or a phone.
On an iPhone, add the web app to your Home Screen.
  • Usage displayMinutes used and left, and your calls over time.
Analytics shows calls and call time over 7, 30 or 90 days, a year, or dates you pick.
  • IntegrationsSend each call to Zapier or Make, or download a spreadsheet.
Or ask Claude or ChatGPT about your calls, read-only. See every integration
  • Team membersInvite people as an admin or a member.
An admin runs the receptionist but not billing, the number or the team. A member can’t change the receptionist.

Getting calls to it

  • Forwarding stepsThe app shows your phone company’s code, ready to dial.
You keep your number and your phone company; nothing is ported.
  • A check callOne tap calls your business number to see if forwarding works.
It places a real call to your business number, and shows whether it reaches your receptionist.
  • Test call from your phoneCall it before customers do; the call shows in your records.
  • Who can callAnswer anyone or only test calls; block numbers and hidden callers.
  • Pause in one tapThe receptionist stops answering until you resume it.
On Android, Dial it for me opens your dialer with the code typed in.

How forwarding works

Honest about outcomes

  • Booking confirmedThe calendar confirmed it. Only then does the caller hear “You’re booked.”
  • Booking pendingSent to the calendar; the answer isn’t back yet.
  • Outcome unknownIt can’t tell whether it went through, so it doesn’t guess.
  • Needs follow-upThe caller left a message or needs something only you can do.

What works today

The nine things we stand behind.

The full list

What you can count on

  • It tells every caller it’s an AI.
  • A caller who asks for a person can be put through to the phone you choose; if nobody answers, it offers to take a message.
  • You keep your number and your phone company: nothing is ported, and there’s no ID to upload.
  • A bill you can predict: extra minutes stay off unless you switch them on, and then stop at a monthly limit you set. Each plan includes 12 to 300 calls a month under 10 seconds that don’t use your minutes.
  • Every call it answers ends with a record you can act on: what the caller needed, the transcript and the outcome.
  • It shows you what it couldn’t answer, on the call’s record and in one list of the last 7 days on Home, so you can teach it the answer.
  • A clear sales pitch or a recorded sales call is ended politely and makes no noise: no notification, and Not spam undoes it.
  • When a caller asks for you and nobody picks up the transfer, you get one alert right away, on Android, on the web and by email.
  • A call that needs you and that nobody opens within two business hours gets one reminder, on Android, on the web and by email.

What we don’t do

  • It isn’t there to replace the person who answers your phone. It picks up when nobody can.
  • It’s told never to claim to be a person.
  • It never tells a caller they’re booked before your calendar confirms it.
  • It’s told never to quote a price you didn’t set, or book work you said you don’t do.
  • It never asks callers for card numbers, passwords or verification codes.

Planned

  • Alerts in the iPhone appPlannedUntil then an iPhone gets them from the web app, and by email.
  • Call recording, if you turn it onPlannedOnly if you turn it on, and callers are told.
A voicemail a caller leaves is the exception: it shows on the call with its transcript.
  • Outlook calendarPlannedOpen times and bookings in an Outlook calendar.
Built; customers can connect it once our Microsoft app registration is set up.
  • In the app storesPlannedDownload the app from your phone’s app store, on Android and iPhone.
